Sustainable Westborough approves decarbonization roadmap
Sustainable Westborough · Meeting of May 11, 2026
WESTBOROUGH — Sustainable Westborough approves decarbonization roadmap, clearing the final step for Climate Leader Communities certification. Chair Peter Flynn led the committee to unanimously approve the roadmap, which uses a "Zero Over Time" approach to replace municipal systems as they reach end-of-life. Sustainability Coordinator Leila Ahmed reported that the Green Communities Grant was countersigned by the state, enabling two transformer projects projected to save nearly 91,000 kilowatt-hours annually.
The committee deferred votes on implementation details and an integrated energy planning proposal, requesting clarification and a defined follow-up process with town staff. Ahmed is organizing a Heat Pump Pizza Party on June 2 at the library.
