WESTBOROUGH — MetroWest RECC Finance Committee discusses bonding strategy to manage grant-funded project reimbursement timelines. Chair Mary Lauria led the meeting with committee members Jonathan Steinberg, Kristi Williams, Evan Brassard, and Brian Ballantine, discussing how to request reimbursement through change orders when the underlying grant allows no contingencies. Ms.
Williams emphasized verifying reimbursibility of all change orders before approval. Executive Director Brian Smith outlined challenges in aligning expenses and funding timelines, noting bonding could smooth the process. Karen Robitaille of State911 assured the committee of continued funding commitment.
Ms. Williams raised concerns about the district's ability to cover debt service costs, to be paid through member assessments.
