MetroWest RECC Operations Committee Adopts UHF P25 Radio System

WESTBOROUGH — MetroWest RECC approves new radio system design. The regional emergency communications committee voted unanimously 6-0 to adopt Radio System Option B: UHF P25 Phase 1, addressing identified coverage gaps in the network. Chair Andrew Puntini led the meeting attended by six chiefs from member departments.
Chief Purcell, who raised coverage concerns, made the motion for adoption, seconded by Chief Newell. Executive Director Brian Smith noted interoperability considerations with neighboring communities during discussion of the system's technical configuration.
