WESTBOROUGH — February 17, 2026 — Westborough Library Building Committee approves $104,655 change order and raises pipe repair ceiling to $200,000. The committee, meeting remotely on February 17, unanimously approved Change Order No. 4 bundling four items including a $12,881.20 closeout of a corroded chilled water pipe demolition that had been authorized at up to $50,000, and roughly $85,000 in electrical corrections addressing knob-and-tube wiring, ungrounded 1980s circuits, and unshown fan coil unit wiring. The committee also revised Change Directive No. 6 upward from $100,000 to a $200,000 ceiling for the pipe installation phase, with the project team estimating a final cost of $125,000 to $150,000. A new $15,000 time-and-materials directive for telecom wire removal was approved after the project team rejected a subcontractor's $25,000 fixed proposal. January vendor invoices from Vertex, LPA, and Seaver totaled $609,499; cumulative project spending stands at roughly $4.8 million with $6.2 million remaining. The project team maintains the September 1, 2026 contract completion date is achievable.
