Library · Meeting of August 26, 2026

Westborough library trustees approved a transition plan setting a September 23 closure and November 2 reopening at the renovated 55 West Main Street building. Director Kate Caraccio told the board the temporary library will lose its main internet connection September 9, running instead on roughly 25 hotspots, with public printing unavailable during the switch. A grand reopening party is planned for Friday, November 6.

Trustees also voted unanimously to approve a renamed "borrowing policy" that formally codifies the library's fine-free status, after staff said that practice has existed informally since around 2018. Fiscal 2026 statistics showed 113,000 visits, up 7.6 percent, and 1,038 programs, up nearly 30 percent. July 22 meeting minutes could not be approved for lack of quorum and were pushed to September.
