WESTBOROUGH — The Westborough Select Board directed Town Counsel to draft the toughest legally viable ban on commercial drone deliveries ahead of the October 19 special Town Meeting, blending provisions from resident group Mass Blue Skies into a draft authored by Select Board member Shelby Marshall. Member Patrick Welch said flatly, "banning drones is where I stand," while Ian Johnson pressed staff on fairness in a separate retiree health insurance proposal. The board approved $72,846,691 in bond anticipation notes sold at 4 percent interest, five bidders, JPMorgan Securities LLC winning.
Two town job descriptions were reclassified, including a DPW position moving from pay grade N10 to N13. Staff said an alternative Blue Cross Blue Shield retiree plan would save subscribers $654 a year in premiums but add a new $700 prescription deductible; no insurance vote was taken.
