Library Trustees Hire Consultant but Board Splits on Funding

Library Board of Trustees · Meeting of March 25, 2026

Westborough Library trustees hire consultant; board splits on funding. Director Kate Coraccio engaged consultant Maura Deedy to provide guidance on Massachusetts library law and foundational documents, winning unanimous board support for the engagement. However, the board split 6-3 on authorizing up to $12,000 from the Zimpka trust fund for the consultant's premium package, with Trustees Baldwin, Mindrum, Karp, Christensen, Daly, and Rissmiller voting in favor and Chair Johnston and Trustees Mello and Cushman opposed.

The board also unanimously adopted a new Collection Development Policy and maintained the library's repair project schedule for a fall opening.
