Public Art Committee clarifies its authority, advances 2027 Art Walk

Public Art Committee · Meeting of August 25, 2026

WESTBOROUGH — Public Art Committee advances 2027 Art Walk planning and clarifies mural authority. The committee determined it has no approval role for the Civic Plaza mural project proposed by the Westborough Women's Club, since the project is on private property, with the Design Review Board and Select Board handling review instead. For the May 16, 2027 Art Walk, Committee member Anna Leduc compiled a list of 30 potential downtown businesses to host artists, while Committee member Lian Amaris will submit a grant proposal to the Westborough Cultural Council LCC grant program by October 15.

The committee also discussed Committee member Ed Turner's proposed "Westborough Rocks" public art project, raising concerns about maintenance and graffiti.
