Panel backs rotary fixes, WCLT trail easement

Other Committee · Meeting of October 5, 2026

Westborough's Active Transportation Safety Committee votes 5-0 to back a trail easement and drafts a rotary safety wish list. The committee approved a letter supporting a Westborough Community Land Trust easement near 2300 Research Drive for its "charm bracelet" trail network, to be sent to the Select Board. Members then spent most of the roughly 90-minute meeting building rotary recommendations parallel to the Planning Board's, favoring paint striping, a converted stop sign, curb bump-outs and rapid flashing beacons over a floated two-way Milk Street redesign.

"So do things that are small enough that people can say, yeah, that helps, but it isn't changing the characteristics," one member said. The group also prioritized a long-missing crosswalk across from Sarah Gibbons Middle School and a relocated, beacon-equipped crossing on East Main Street at Stevens Road.
