COA Votes to Keep Collins as Chair Through 2027
Council on Aging · Meeting of September 14, 2026
Westborough's Council on Aging reviews $10M-plus community center design, keeps current leaders. Project architect Joel told the council the plan could exceed $10 million, with an elevator to the second floor, an emergency generator and a renovated pool currently bid as optional "alternates" rather than guaranteed work, a decision left to the Select Board ahead of a March 2027 town meeting vote. Joel said combining the elevator work with the main project, rather than adding it later, would save "25 to 30 percent" in supervision and overhead costs.
Senior and Social Services Director Kendra Wilson reported 419 WRTA rides in July and called it "our most heavily used month so far." The council voted unanimously to keep Diane Collins as chair and a member identified as Guido as vice chair through the current fiscal year, and to adopt annual nominations in July and elections in September starting in 2027. Two new members, Doug Wales and a member identified as Gene D'Granfield, were welcomed aboard.
