Westborough Public Schools has a new athletic director, part of what the district's human resources chief called an unusually busy year of staff hiring.

WESTBOROUGH --

HIGH SCHOOL -- Mark Levita has been hired as the district's new athletic director, Human Resources Director Tammy Costello told the School Committee at its Sept. 23 meeting during her annual staffing update. Costello said the hire was part of a "gangbuster year" for administrator hiring, driven in part by three longtime administrators leaving for promotions elsewhere. She also reported that the district hired five new coaches this year as part of its broader non-classroom staffing, though she did not specify which teams or sports levels they will lead. Costello's presentation otherwise focused on classroom hiring, teacher retention and the district's elementary redistricting, with no further athletics specifics provided.
