WESTBOROUGH — Select Board approves pay increases for waterfront staff and $4,000 signing bonus for engineer hire. Vice Chair Shelby Marshall, with members Sean Keogh, Mark Silverberg, and Patrick Welch voting unanimously, amended waterfront compensation to $27 per hour for the director, $23 for head lifeguards, $21 for instructors, and $19 for lifeguards, supported by recreation department beach pass revenue. The board also unanimously authorized Chair Ian Johnson to submit testimony opposing the state's Road to Opportunity Act, which would eliminate municipal ability to place vehicle registration holds for unpaid motor vehicle excise taxes; Finance Director Jon Steinberg reported the town currently collects 92 percent of approximately $350,000 in annual excise taxes using that enforcement tool.
