Finance panel backs final housing trust payment
Finance Committee · Meeting of October 1, 2026
Westborough Finance Committee clears final $200,000 housing trust payment, backs new police range fund. The Advisory Finance Committee voted 7-0 to recommend the sixth and final installment of a $1.4 million mitigation deal with Pulte Homes New England flow into the Affordable Housing Trust, alongside a related $9 million settlement the trust has already drawn roughly $1.8 million from. Trust chair Alan Ettenberg said "clearly, the town cannot build 25 housing units for $1.4 million," explaining the town's leverage in the original negotiation.
The committee also voted 7-0 to recommend a revolving fund letting outside agencies' firing-range fees support the range directly, with Police Chief Minardi calling the mechanism "pretty straightforward," and voted 7-0 to recommend a downtown zoning amendment requiring special permits for townhouses and rowhouses. Members approved September 28 minutes 5-0-1 and postponed FY25 audit findings to a dedicated Monday, October 5 session.
